Anecdote Travel Backpack
Anecdote is a backpack concept designed for short urban adventures, like spontaneous weekend road trips with friends. The goal was to create a practical and durable backpack that supports these moments by helping users stay organized without needing to fully unpack.
The design emphasizes simple construction and thoughtful compartmentalization, making it easier to keep track of personal items while on the move. With dedicated spaces for essentials, Anecdote alleviates the stress of digging through a cluttered bag, even in fast-paced or space-restricted situations.
The project’s name, Anecdote, highlights the memorable experiences that emerge from spontaneous plans. It serves as a companion for trips that begin as casual ideas over lunch and swiftly evolve into stories worth sharing.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and limited access to studio facilities, the project only reached the early prototyping phase. I created a rough but functional prototype to test basic form, structure, and usability, laying the foundation for future refinement and user testing.

I learned a lot from conducting hands-on research, studying bag features, and documenting design details. With a specific user and intent in mind, I carefully considered each design element to develop a thoughtful compartmentalization system aligned with my skills and timeframe. However, as I was preparing to begin my second prototype, the COVID-19 shutdown halted access to university sewing machines, forcing me to pause and reflect on how even early-stage prototypes can carry meaningful design intent and storytelling potential.
